Warriors' Journeys

After long months of combat, we came to understand that our fighters need, now more than ever, a safe space to recover, a place to process their experiences, regain strength, and return either to civilian life or to continued service renewed and recharged.

From this understanding, we created the Warriors’ Journeys Project a unique opportunity for those who put their lives on hold to defend and protect the State of Israel to embark on a process of physical and emotional renewal, enabling them to move forward in their lives with clarity, strength, and fresh energy whether transitioning back to everyday life or continuing in active service.

These journeys will take place in natural settings across different continents, each offering its own unique path to renewal and healing.

The journeys bring together generations of warriors from various units and are designed for reservists, active-duty soldiers completing their service, female soldiers serving in frontline roles, combat leaders, and unit commanders.

Each journey combines a variety of techniques, including mindfulness, Somatic Experiencing (SE), breathwork, talking circles, rehabilitative Pilates, surfing, and other water sports, all guided by a professional and experienced team who accompany participants every step of the way.

Make It Heal is a unique global initiative built on organizational and financial collaborations, combining retreats, workshops, and trainings with social projects and local community engagement in Israel and around the world.

Mindfulness-Based Journeys

Mindfulness is a mental practice at the forefront of scientific research.

Over the past few decades, mindfulness practice and mindfulness-based therapies have gained significant momentum, with more than 11,000 clinical studies conducted to date.

Mindfulness programs are now implemented worldwide in hospitals, schools, psychological clinics, major corporations such as Google, Apple, and Facebook, as well as in government institutions, including the British Parliament and the Council of the European Union.

For soldiers, mindfulness helps regulate emotional responses, enabling them to process difficult emotions in a healthy way.

In our journeys, we provide soldiers with practical, mindfulness-based tools that they can carry with them far beyond the days of the trip, tools that will serve them when they return to daily life and when facing future challenges.

The Benefits of Mindfulness in the “Warriors’ Journeys” Program

Strengthening mental resilience: Mindfulness helps develop the ability to cope with challenges more effectively and overcome difficulties.

Improving sleep quality: Mindfulness practice can significantly enhance sleep, which is vital for both physical and emotional recovery.

Reducing anxiety: Mindfulness offers tools to manage anxiety and quiet intrusive thoughts.

Emotional regulation: It supports healthier responses to intense emotions.

Increasing self-awareness: Mindfulness encourages a deeper awareness of thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations, helping soldiers better understand themselves.

Enhancing focus: Regular practice improves concentration, reduces distractions, and increases efficiency.

Examples of Countries Integrating Mindfulness into the Military

United States: The U.S. military uses mindfulness as part of rehabilitation programs for injured soldiers and includes it in basic training.

United Kingdom: The British Army offers mindfulness courses aimed at improving soldiers’ mental well-being and reducing suicide rates.

Canada: The Canadian military integrates mindfulness into PTSD treatment programs.

Australia: The Australian Army incorporates mindfulness into both training and rehabilitation initiatives.

In conclusion, mindfulness offers discharged soldiers powerful tools to strengthen mental resilience, improve quality of life, and navigate the challenges of transitioning between military and civilian life, time and time again.
